The Advocis Book Club!

Autumn is around the bend, making this the ideal time to shift your mindset with the Advocis Book Club! Our third book selection for 2023 is High Conflict: Why We Get Trapped and How We Get Out by Amanda Ripley.

In High Conflict, Ripley investigates the nature of disagreement, and how the worst kind can descend into 'good-versus-evil' - the kind of feud with an 'us and them' mentality. In this state, Ripley shows how the brain behaves differently - with participants feeling increasingly certain of their own superiority, and in a state where everything intended to end the conflict usually makes it worse. Thankfully, Ripley also displays how individuals and even entire communities can short-circuit the feedback loops of outrage and blame.

How Does it Work?

The Advocis Book Club is hosted virtually in a private online forum where members can connect to discuss the current book and network with each other.

The group will spend two months on each book, so you'll have plenty of time to read! The club also focuses on business-related titles that are a good match for our financial advisor community.

Who Manages the Club?

The Advocis Book Club is managed by PBC Guru.

PBC Guru manages professional book clubs for companies and members of professional societies, and are moderating the group to help make this program a great experience for all participants.

Staff from Advocis are participating and assisting with moderation as well. As a member, all you need to do is show up and enjoy!
